I want to start taking flying lessons now. But, I will be leaving something in the fall for Air Force BMT and tech training which should all and all take around a year. If I take lessons now, will they still count when I get back? And will my class III flight physical with the Air Force pass the FAA physical? And do I have to take the written test before actually taking dual instruction lessons?

Hours are hours, they don’t go away — now what you learn during those hours might. If you’ve got Basic and Tech school looming, you might want to wait.

You can get a Class III from some USAF Flight Docs but if you’re not on flight status I’m not sure how you schedule that.

And you don’t have to take the written before any lessons, although around the time you start cross countries is good.

One of the coolest things for me is all the things I learn making videos. I never knew gliders could soar 35 – 40 feet, that’s like a passenger jet, all without an engine.
