    I can see why he is EX-RAF, he has almost ruined that engine! He clearly has NO IDEA what he’s doing, he allowed the engine to overheat during start up, it is likely it is permanently damaged!

    I own one of these engines (link in profile).

    It is/was a WR27 APU. It was never manufactured with electric start in any voltage so that’s been added after the navy scraped it.

    You need a powerful motor to allow the APU to accelerate fast enough to stay below its max temp during the start, or you melt your hot section as shown.

    So the motor may not have been as capable as it should have, or simply the the poor guy had a mechanical failure (delivery compressor intake door opened etc..)
