F4-U training film part 2

The Chance-Vought F4-U Corsair training film. Part 2 includes flight operations and landing. and climb. The bent wing bird or “Whistling Death” as it was called by the Japanese was a pivital aircraft in the Pacific air conflict of World War II. The Corsair was flown by a number of American Aces including Major Greg “Pappy” Boyington on VFA-214 “Blacksheep” USMC and Lt Colonel Kenneth Walsh VF-124 & VF-222, USMC. Both are reciepients of the Medal of Honor. Lt Colonel Walsh is credited with the first aerial kill in a US Corsair, was the first ace in the Corsair, the first sucessful water ditch in a Corsair and recieved the Medal of Honor for actions in the Corsair. Lt Colonel Walsh had a total of 21 kills in the Corsair. Lt Colonel Walsh single handedly attacked a flight of approxiately 50 Jaanese Zekes and disrupted their operation so much they abandoned their attack. Major Walsh was shot down during this action, only after slashing 4 Zekes. There are less than 2 dozen flying Corsairs left today. It is my personal honor to have met both Major Boyington and Lt Colonel Walsh in my lifetime.
